Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Jen was so fascinating to talk to, I loved delving deeper into homeschooling, and getting a small insight into her life as a military spouse. I’m always in awe of these mothers who have the flexibility to live a very nomadic life, never knowing what the future might hold. It’s so outside of my realm of comfort that it’s just so fun to hear it from the perspective of someone who has lived it. Jen has lived in 13 different states and countries throughout her life as a military spouse and as such has spent the last 20 years homeschooling her four children!
Homeschooling is not what it used to be and is quickly becoming a way of life I’m incredibly turned on to. I love how she sums it up in an article that was featured on Good Housekeeping- homeschooling gives your children a lot more time to pursue their passions and interests. It gives them the ability to work through boredom to figure out what they really want to do with their lives. What appeals to me most is that via homeschooling you can literally live ANYWHERE in the world and still educate your children in a very consistent way.
I love that her husband supported her in her dream to be a writer and brought home a desk for her to get started. From that moment many amazing and insightful things have been written by Jen including her incredible book, You Are Not Alone: Encouragement for the Heart of a Military Spouse. You can enter to win a copy of her book by simply emailing me and telling me you want it! 🙂
Thank you Jen for sharing your experiences and perspective with me! It was so eye opening and I can’t wait to hear all about your new journeys ahead including running a half marathon and becoming a new grandma!
